Allen Institute for Immunology
Deepening our understanding of the immune system to understand how it works when we’re healthy, and what goes wrong in disease.
Goals and Approach
The Allen Institute for Immunology is working to advance the fundamental understanding of human immunology through the study of immune health and diseases where excessive or impaired immune responses drive pathological processes.
To truly understand the human immune system, it must be viewed through many different lenses and at multiple time points. Teams at the Allen Institute for Immunology focus on different areas so that, combined, findings and insights support a more complete picture of the immune system in different contexts.
Studies and data on the immune system generated by these teams can lead to actionable insights that will help scientists find treatments and therapies for immune-related diseases.

By mapping the immune system at high resolution, we are gaining insights into interconnected processes of how the immune system works across age and health which holds the key to treating a broad spectrum of diseases.
-
Autoimmunity
What goes wrong when our immune systems attack our own bodies?
-
Cancer
Paving the way for more effective treatments across a broad spectrum of multiple myeloma patients.
-
Health and Aging
Interrogating immune cell types and functionality in diverse human populations across health and aging.
