Staff Profiles

Greg Johnson, Ph.D.

Greg joined the Allen Institute in 2016 as a scientist in the Animated Cell group with a specialization in computer vision approaches to cell modeling. He received his undergraduate degree from California Lutheran University and worked for a short time as a software developer at Amgen. He then joined Robert Murphy’s lab at Carnegie Mellon University where he earned a MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Computational Biology respectively. His research involved developing tools to understand and model the morphological variation of cellular components from fluorescent microscope images, and using these models to predict cell behavior and organization.
