Solving the mysteries of bioscience
We are an independent nonprofit bioscience research institute aimed at unlocking the mysteries of human biology through foundational science.
Foundational Science Fuels Breakthroughs
We are leaders in large-scale research that transforms our understanding of human health and disease and shapes how science is conducted worldwide.
Inspiring Next-Generation Scientists
To us, open science extends to inspiring the next generation of scientists by supporting access to science resources, research, and experiences.
Bio:
Teresa joined the Institute for Cell Science in August 2018 as Director of Scientific Operations. Her team is responsible for supporting the operational requirements and providing program management within Cell Science. Prior to joining the Institute, Teresa was a director in the Inflammation Discovery Research department at Amgen - Seattle where her team established cell based assays to support target discovery and validation. After Amgen, Teresa was in business development at Sartorius Stedim Cellca BioOutsource, a global contract research organization that supports early development of biopharmaceuticals.
Teresa obtained her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UC San Diego where she utilized somatic cell microinjection to study the role of the c-myc transcription factor in cell cycle progression. She continued studying signal transduction pathways during her postdoc at Immunex, where she characterized novel members of the IL-1R family, identifying the two receptor chains required for IL-18 signaling. She remained at Immunex/Amgen after her postdoc, holding positions of increasing responsibility and scope in the small molecule screening group, discovery research department and biosimilar business unit.
Teresa is excited to combine her experience in biopharmaceutical discovery/development and portfolio management with her more recent experience in external business development to drive internal progress as well as external awareness of our accomplishments for Cell Science.
