Raymond Sanchez, Ph.D

Product Manager II

Bio:

Raymond joined the Allen Institute for Brain Science as a member of the Human Cell Types team in 2021. His work is focused on leveraging comprehensive, multi-modal datasets collected from mouse and human cortex to develop new online data tools for researchers exploring the features of transcriptomically defined cell types. He is interested in understanding the features that characterize normal cell types in the human brain, and how these features change in the context of disease.

Prior to joining the Allen Institute, Raymond earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Washington in the lab of Dr. Horacio de la Iglesia. There, he used genetic, electrophysiological and behavioral techniques to characterize sleep disturbances in epilepsy and explore the contributions of different cell types in the hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus to sleep timing. He earned his B.S. in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science from the University of Arizona in 2015.
