Bio:

Filip joined the Allen Institute in summer 2019 after graduating from the University of Virginia, where he obtained a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering. During his graduate studies he collaborated with researchers at the university's hospital, where he analyzed videos of microglia inside mice brains to understand the role which calcium signaling and cortical spreading depressions played in causing brain inflammation and neural damage during strokes. As a member of the Assay Development team, Filip's work focuses on applying both traditional and machine learning-based image processing techniques to analyze biological images, curate image datasets for training machine learning algorithms, and track motion within cell colonies.
