CellScapes: Launching a new era of cellular biology

This work promises to drive advancements in cancer therapies and regenerative medicine and unlock new frontiers of scientific inquiry into human health.

The Allen Institute announces CellScapes, a new initiative to transform our understanding of how human cells build tissues and organs.

CellScapes will use cutting-edge imaging techniques, experiments, and deep computational modeling to observe, explain, and predict cellular behavior with unparalleled precision and understanding. It will apply a mathematical lens to explain what a cell does (and why it does it) rather than simply describing it. The research will present a holistic view of the human cell in three dimensions, providing a dynamic, living picture instead of a static snapshot in time, narrating the journey of the cell as it develop into tissues and organs essential for life.
