Lake Conference – Neural Coding and Dynamics

Details

Join the Allen Institute and Circuit Neuroscience Basel for the Lake Conference in Seattle, Washington this September! This interactive and intimate conference will bring together leaders and top researchers in neural coding and dynamics for engaging presentations, discussions and networking.

The conference will focus on neural coding and dynamics at the brain-wide level, their implementation in evolved neural circuits, and the impact of artificial intelligence in understanding the brain.

About This Event

What are Lake Conferences?

Lake Conferences are a new series of four bi-annual conferences designed to provide a stimulating forum for discussion of key emerging areas of neuroscience.

The conferences are medium-sized, 100-150 participants, to allow for lively participation and conversation among attendees.

Two conferences will take place in 2023:

  • “Sensation and action” hosted in Thun, Switzerland, May 7-11
  • “Neural coding and dynamics” hosted in Seattle, September 17-21

Two additional conferences will be hosted in the same locations in 2024.

The study of neural coding and neural dynamics has recently been turbocharged by advances in experimental methods and a revolution in computing and modeling. It is now becoming possible to test long-standing theoretical models of how the dynamic interactions of large populations of neurons process information and produce intelligent behavior.

We aim to bring together field leaders with both undergraduate and graduate level scientists and early-career researchers, for a highly interactive meeting. Learn more about the confirmed speakers for the event here.

Application Details

We invite applicants at all career stages to apply to attend. In addition to speaker presentations, we will feature a number of short talks and posters from accepted applicants. Applications are due Friday, May 12.

All applicants will be notified of the decision on their applications by Friday, June 2.

Registration Cost

The conference registration fee is $650 USD, to be paid only by accepted applicants after notification. The registration cost includes:

  • Three days of conference sessions
  • Welcome reception (Sunday, 9/17) & evening event (Wednesday, 9/20)
  • All meals during conference

Please contact events@alleninstitute.org with questions.

Location

The conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington hotel in Renton, WA. Located on the south shores of Lake Washington, the Hyatt Regency combines modern meeting spaces and guest rooms with unparalleled access to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

The hotel is a convenient 10 minutes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and just 20 minutes from downtown Seattle. The hotel can be reached by public transport, taxis, sea plane and kayak!
