  • Please bring a computer with you each day of the workshop, and please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • Join us for a group dinner near the Allen Institute on Tuesday.

meeting location

  • This event will be held at the Allen Institute, a 270,000-square-foot life sciences building, located in South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. The building is purpose-built for life science research and facilitates our trademark team science approach amid abundant natural light and with stunning views of Seattle. ‍
  • Upon arrival at the Allen Institute, check in at the registration desk each day located in the lobby and you will be directed to the meeting. Please wear your name badge for the duration of the meeting.

getting to seattle

  • The Seattle-Tacoma International airport is the closest airport to the Institute, about a 30-minute drive from the Allen Institute.
  • From the airport, there are many options for getting to downtown Seattle and the Institute, including Link Light Rail, taxis, Uber/Lyft app-based ride shares, or Shuttle Express.
  • For the most up to date and comprehensive information on getting around Seattle refer to the Visit Seattle Getting Around Website.
  • For public transportation you can download the OneBusAway app for helpful, real time updates on arrival times.

travel support

Attendees who did not indicate a need for travel support on their application are responsible for all travel expenses to and from the meeting. Your acceptance email will specify if you were allotted travel support.

Attendees who applied for and were granted travel support will receive a maximum of $500 for reimbursement of qualifying travel expenses. To receive this reimbursement, you must follow the steps below and upload the required forms by 11:59pm PST on Friday, August 14. Any forms received after this deadline will not be processed for reimbursement. Please note that after the August 15 deadline, it may take up to 30 business days for you to receive your reimbursement.

Step 1: Before the workshop, upload the required documents to AllenSecureHub via the link you receive in your email. This step should be completed within 7 days of receiving the link.

Step 2:  Keep a record of all itemized receipts of travel-related expenses you plan on submitting for reimbursement

Step 3: Log expenses on this Visitor Expense Report form sent to your email

Note: please leave the “Expense Coding Information” section blank. We will fill this out for you.  

Step 4: Email the expense report and copies of your itemized travel receipts to emily.borsom@alleninstitute.org after the workshop has concluded. For security purposes, please do not email us your W9/W8 BEN forms.

This three day in-person workshop, July 20-22, 2025, will consist of interactive seminars and hands-on computational work. It will focus on teaching the skills for building and simulating complex and heterogeneous network models grounded in real biological data.
