Bio:

Jiatai (Augustus) Liu is a Research Associate in the Gene Therapy team. Jiatai works on developing gene therapies for rare brain diseases. He works on various parts of projects that include in vitro, in vivo testing to help select therapeutic candidates. Previously, Jiatai studied the evolution and function of host antiviral genes in order to determine how HIV adapted to primates, and how human innate immunity genes influence the susceptibility or resistance of humans to modern lentiviruses at the Emerman Lab of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He earned his B.S. degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Washington, where he was a Research Assistant in the Swalla Lab and the Steinbrenner Lab.
