Bio:
Xiaoyu joined Allen Institute, Neural Coding group as a Scientist in 2024, working under the supervision of Nuno Maçarico da Costa. Her works involves scaling up and automating the sample preparation for large scale Electron Microscopy.
Xiaoyu completed her Ph.D. in Systems, Synthetic and Physical Biology program at Rice University in Francois St-Pierre Lab. She was a protein hacker during her Ph.D. and developed automated multi-parameter high-throughput screening platforms to optimize genetically encoded voltage indicators, which are protein indicators that convert neural activities in to light signals.
Xiaoyu has always been a passionate engineer with particular interest in developing tools to empower neuroscience discovery. Her ultimate dream is to build the virtual atlas of human brain with synaptic precision.
