UX Designer and Visualization Specialist II

Bio:

Thao joined the Animated Cell team at the Allen Institute for Cell Science in March 2016. As a scientific animator, she creates and maintains multimedia assets to help visualizing the data & workflow of the Institute. She also takes part in the research, design, and prototyping of web apps and tools that allow easy open access to the ever growing repositories of data & models here. Prior to the Allen Institute, she joined the Mesoscope lab at UCSF as an intern then a scientific illustrator/animator, learning & working on a wide range of projects from creating animations of molecular subjects and illustrating concepts for grants to making physical cellular models for hands-on immunotherapy simulation. She has also been a part of the Pharmacogenomics Research Network Hub, administering its website and its other appearances, to promote communication among many research groups and organizations in the field. Thao earned her Graduate Certificate in Science Illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay and Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Art from University of Southern Indiana.
