Tao Peng Headshot

Tao Peng, Ph.D.

Assistant Investigator

Bio:

Tao is an Assistant Investigator in Informatics & Computational Biology at the Allen Institute for Immunology. Prior to joining the Allen Institute, Tao was a senior scientist in department of laboratory medicine and pathology at University of Washington and Vaccine and Infectious Disease (VIDD) at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. His research focused on understanding mucosal immune responses in human genital skin and female reproductive tract during recurrent genital herpes infection. The main research approaches are single cell transcriptional profiling, single cell TCR clonotype tracking and multiplex imaging. Tao has over 20 publications in top journals like Nature, Nature Medicine and Nature Biotechnology. Tao earned his Ph.D. in Virology from University of Maryland and received a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Science and Technology (USTC) in China.

Research Focus:

Tao’s research interests focus on exploring multimodal single cell data (RNA-seq, CITE-seq, ATAC, flow, TCR and spatial) for biomarker discovery in cancer immunology and virus-host interaction.
