Solving the mysteries of bioscience
We are an independent nonprofit bioscience research institute aimed at unlocking the mysteries of human biology through foundational science.
Foundational Science Fuels Breakthroughs
We are leaders in large-scale research that transforms our understanding of human health and disease and shapes how science is conducted worldwide.
Inspiring Next-Generation Scientists
To us, open science extends to inspiring the next generation of scientists by supporting access to science resources, research, and experiences.
Bio:
Ryan Raut joined the Allen Institute as a Shanahan Foundation Fellow in the fall of 2021, after completing his PhD in neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis. In his PhD work with Dr. Marcus Raichle, Ryan focused on identifying convergent spatiotemporal principles of brain state dynamics across multiple macroscopic recording modalities (fMRI, electrocorticography, widefield calcium imaging) and species (human, monkey, mouse). In collaboration with investigators at the Allen Institute and the University of Washington, Ryan is now leveraging computational and data-driven approaches to elucidate intrinsic rules governing the dynamics of neuronal populations, ultimately seeking to characterize such rules in mathematical, physiological, and behavioral terms.
