Rob Young

Associate Director, Data & Technology

Bio:

Rob Young is a software project manager on the Institute’s Technology Team. He works with the development team to design and build the LIMS, data warehouse, site search, API, and services. Rob received a B.B.A in Business from Southern Methodist University in 1993. He joined Microsoft’s technical support and represented the organization with the Windows product group, driving supportability improvements and tools into the product. He accepted a program manager position with the Windows test organization coordinating quality control efforts with OEMs. He later transitioned to a web developer position and developed databases, web applications, and services.

Rob joined the Allen Institute in 2005 as a developer working on the Allen Mouse Brain Atlas. He became a program manager in 2010. As the PM for the NWB Neurophysiology collaboration, Rob gathered requirements from participating labs and worked with the development team to define a standard format for neurophysiology data. He is a member of the IARPA MICrONS and the NIH BCDC projects.
