Bio:
Patrick Ray joined the Allen Institute as an ontologist in 2020. He works on developing, managing, and coordinating ontologies representing cell types, anatomy, electrophysiology, morphology, experimental techniques, disease, and scientific data. His research background includes developing ontologies for cell types, cognitive processes, and neurological diseases. Previously, he was a lecturer at the University of California, Davis in the Philosophy and Cognitive Science Departments. Prior to that, he completed his Ph.D. at the University at Buffalo in Philosophy and Cognitive Science where his doctoral research focused on first-person cognitive attitude descriptions and earned his B.S. at Washington State University in Neuroscience.
