Bio:

Michael Stryker is the William Francis Ganong Professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he has been a faculty member since his appointment as Assistant Professor in 1978.

A member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Stryker earned his B.A. in Philosophy with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his Ph.D. in Psychology and Brain Sciences (Neurophysiology) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by postdoctoral studies in neurobiology at the Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Stryker has been recognized by numerous awards throughout, including the W. Alden Spencer Award from Columbia University, the Pepose Vision Sciences Award from Brandeis University, the Stein Innovator Award from Research to Prevent Blindness, the Krieg Cortical Kudos Discoverer Award from the Cajal Club, and the Ralph W. Gerard Prize in Neuroscience from the Society for Neuroscience.
