Bio:
As General Counsel, Meg oversees the diverse legal needs of the organization with a capable team of attorneys and other professionals covering contracts, risk and compliance, governance, insurance, intellectual property and innovation management. The legal team is a dedicated team of trusted advisors committed to providing excellent service through collaborative and inclusive solutions that advance the Allen Institute mission. Meg enthusiastically enables research and innovation at the Allen Institute with wisdom gathered over many years and a pragmatic approach.
Prior to joining the Allen Institute in 2021, Meg served as General Counsel, then Chief Legal Officer at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) for over 20 years. Prior to moving in-house, Meg was a partner in a Denver, Colorado law firm where she started her career in complex commercial litigation. Over the years Meg has served on the boards (including as chair) of several nonprofits and professional associations. Meg received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Colorado and her BA in Economics from Colorado College. She is licensed to practice law in the states of Colorado and Washington, is an AV rated lawyer, and a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
