Bio:
Mathew joined the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics in 2022 as part of molecular anatomy group, and is broadly interested in how the brain routes and reorganizes information at the level of cell types. Mathew received his PhD in Molecular Biology from UC Berkeley, where he was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the lab of Dr. Marla Feller. There, Mathew used synaptic physiology to study retinal circuits implementing computations for invariant feature detection, and received the Alan Bearden dissertation award for his work. Prior to his PhD, Mathew attended the University of Washington where he majored in Neurobiology and Biochemistry, completing his Honors thesis in the lab of Dr. Fred Rieke.
