Bio:
Leslie joined the Allen Institute in 2018 after earning a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from University of California, Los Angeles. Her graduate research with Dr. Sotiris Masmanidis included developing a system for performing large-scale extracellular electrophysiology with silicon-based microelectrode arrays. Leslie then continued her studies by using the system in combination with optogenetic techniques to study basal ganglia circuitry and function in awake, behaving mice. At the Institute, Leslie will continue to perform large-scale electrophysiology with the aim of developing a better understanding of how electrical signals are propagated throughout the brain in different levels of consciousness.
