Kanghoon Jung, Ph.D.

Scientist II

Bio:

Dr. Kanghoon Jung is a scientist at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics, focusing a project centered on uncovering the neurophysiology of dynamic decision-making. His current research focuses on cell-type-specific computations of neuromodulatory neurons and their roles in decision-making and adaptive behavior. He designs and implements behavioral paradigms for foraging in mice, incorporating simultaneous recording and perturbation of neurophysiological activity, while utilizing advanced techniques such as electrophysiology, computational modeling, and transgenic resources. Prior to joining the Allen Institute, he was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Hyungbae Kwon at Johns Hopkins University and Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. For his doctoral study at Dartmouth College, he studied the cognitive dynamics underlying decision-making focusing on interactions between attention, memory, and reward in action control. Dr. Jung holds a BS in Physics and an MS in Bio & Brain Engineering from KAIST, Korea.
