Jie Yao, Ph.D

Senior Instrument Specialist

Bio:

Jie Yao joined the Cell Science team in July 2019 to study intracellular protein dynamics by fluorescence fluctuation microscopy and to support microscope instruments. Jie carried out his PhD training at Cornell University in fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and two-photon laser scanning microscopy with Watt Webb.He developed the method to image transcription factor dynamics at specific native genes in vivo.He then performed postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley and HHMI Janelia Research Campus to study subnuclear localizations of core promoter factors. Jie worked as an Assistant Professor of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine to develop single-cell transcription imaging and to characterize the epigenetic features of nuclear envelope-associated genes.
