Jessica Yu, Ph.D.

Scientist II

Bio:

Jessica joined the Allen Institute in 2022 as a scientist on the Animated Cell team, focusing on developing computational models to understand the underlying rules that drive cell shape and colony dynamics. Jessica received her BS in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science, MS in Biotechnology, and PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University. Her doctoral research in Neda Bagheri’s computational biology lab focused on agent-based modeling of tumor growth and microenvironmental vasculature dynamics. Prior to joining the Allen Institute, Jessica worked as the Assistant Scientific Director for the Bagheri lab to mentor graduate and undergraduate students and support model development efforts, cloud migration, and software engineering best practices.
