Hannah Belski

Research Associate I

Bio:

Hannah is a Research Associate I in the Neural Circuits and Behavior department. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Neuroscience. There, she conducted research centered on sex-specific mechanisms of social hierarchy in mice and related anxiotypic behaviors. Prior to the Allen Institute, Hannah participated in a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the US Army Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense where she aided in work to hone existing and discover novel medical countermeasures to exposure to nerve agents.

Research Focus:

Hannah’s research interests include sexually dimorphic regions of the brain, neurobiological mechanisms underlying affective disorders, chemical warfare countermeasures, and large-scale electrophysiology. She has experience working with a variety of in vivo models, behavior analysis, sterile surgical techniques, and cortical electroencephalography. At the Allen Institute she will conduct research as part of the Neuropixels team.
