Bio:

Dr. Gary Wilson has over 15 years of experience in scientific research funding and in developing science programs and grant strategy.

He currently is Head of Science Portfolio at the Gatsby Charitable Foundation where his role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring research funding and strategic activities in both Gatsby’s neuroscience and plant science portfolios. Prior to joining Gatsby, Gary was a Portfolio Advisor within the Neuroscience and Mental Health funding section of the Wellcome Trust.

He sits on the Steering Board for the UK Technician Commitment that aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research institutes. He is an advisor to a new fundraising charity, Cure CLCN4, that has the goal of advancing the much-needed basic science and translational research in conditions related to changes in CLCN4 gene function. He was a co-chair for the Funders Collective of the International Brain Initiative that worked to catalyze and advance ethical neuroscience through international collaboration and knowledge sharing.

He holds an BA/MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in neuropharmacology from University College London.
