Ellen Adams

Research Associate II

Bio:

Ellen joined the Microscopy team at the Allen Institute for Cell Science in January of 2022. She is involved with various scientific projects and uses multiple image-based assays to interrogate cell organization, cell behavior, and cell identity.

Ellen earned bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Engineering from Swarthmore College. During her time there, she participated in research with Dr. Eva-Maria Collins’ systems biology lab studying the mechanics of mouth opening, as well as development and regeneration, in Hydra. She designed and built a Selective Plane Illumination Microscope (SPIM) for the project using an open access platform. Ellen also worked on a project to automate characterization of planarian behavior using image analysis.
