Bio:

Colin Farrell joined the Allen Institute in 2014 as the Director of Manufacturing and Process Engineering.  In his role at the Institute Farrell and his team collaborate with scientists to develop instrumentation for basic research and for the pipeline projects for which the Institute is renowned.  Originally from Scotland, Farrell received a B.Sc. in physics from the University of Strathclyde and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Aberdeen.  On completion of his studies, Farrell moved to Tucson Arizona where he was employed by WYKO, a manufacturer of high performance metrology instruments that was acquired by Veeco Metrology and subsequently by Bruker Instruments.  He remained with the company for 19 years during which time he worked on many aspects of instrument design, development and manufacture.
