Bio:

Chris Frick joined the Allen Institute in 2019 as a Scientist on the Assay Development team. He is focused on developing microscopy experiments to illuminate an integrated multi-scale view of the nucleus and its activities. Chris obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the California Institute of Technology, where he investigated how single cells transmit signals from membrane to nucleus in the transduction pathway. Through this work he developed an expertise in live-cell imaging, quantitative image analysis and tracking transcription factor dynamics in nuclei of individual cells. Prior to his graduate work, Chris completed his Bachelor's of Science at Whitworth University in 2012, majoring in Biochemistry and Biophysics.

​My long-term research interest is in understanding the interplay between cell behavior and cell state. To do this it is essential to capture a highly integrated view of cellular states, the variability between the states of individual cells, and the dynamics of cell states as cells undergo differentiation. I am excited to join the Allen Institute for Cell Science team as we pursue this question of such immense scale and fundamental importance.
