Bio:
Carolyn Eng is a Senior Scientific Project and Alliance Manager for the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics. Prior to joining the Allen Institute, Carolyn was a project manager at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute where she managed activities for a longitudinal study of breast cancer screening and ran a multi-site clinical trial of acupuncture for chronic low back pain in older adults. Carolyn has a PhD in Human Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University where she studied the biomechanical function of the human iliotibial band and its energy storage and recovery role during walking and running. She completed a NIH Ruth Kirchstein-NRSA F32 postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University where she explored the in situ and in vivo function of planar connective tissues and muscle. As a research scientist at Yale, Carolyn examined the role of the transverse arch in stiffening the human foot and its role in the evolution of bipedalism.
