Brock Roberts

Scientist, Sr.

teams /
Allenite

Brock leads the genome engineering team at the Allen Institute for Cell Science, and has been involved in the production of human induced pluripotent stem cell lines for the larger community as part of the Allen Cell Collection since the Institute’s inception. Brock joined the Institute soon after completing his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley, where he performed some genome engineering experiments in mouse embryonic stem cells with exogenous nucleases in order to mechanistically dissect the role of the Hedgehog signaling pathway in patterning of the spinal cord.

research focus

Brock is interested in genome engineering and cellular signaling pathways functioning in early human development, and how those two interests merge. The mechanistic determinants of cellular diversity produced by developmental events and changes in the cell's state are primary interest.
