Bio:

Peter leads the Editorial and Media team at the Allen Institute, which is responsible for external storytelling and communications related to the Institute’s scientific achievements and impact. He joined the Allen Institute in 2022 from Vancouver, Canada where he led the communications team for a policy advocacy organization engaged in federal, provincial, and local drug policy aimed at addressing the harms of the overdose crisis. Peter is also an award-winning former broadcast and data journalist with a decade of experience reporting in major media markets in Canada with CityNews (Toronto), Global News (Toronto), and CKNW (Vancouver). Additionally, Peter co-founded the Vancouver chapter of Data for Good, a volunteer-run nonprofit comprised of data scientists and engineers who use their skills to advance the work of mission-driven organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and petting other people’s small dogs (especially Pomeranians) and wishing he had his own.
