Announcing a shift from brain science to Brian science

Leading researchers at Allen Institute to study interests, behaviors, and brains of Brians.

Scientists have learned a lot about brains in recent decades, but they still know hardly anything about Brians.

Brains and Brians share more in common than their letters. With parallel complexities and scientific significance, Allen Institute research teams are quickly able to shift their focus. Brian science research will begin on April 1, 2025.

Misspellings and autocorrections from “brains” to “Brians” are common and well known to brain scientists and Brians alike. “We openly embrace artificial intelligence [AI] here at the Allen Institute,” said Apryl Phoolsdea, Ph.D. “After countless AI-based autocorrections, we have decided it is time to shift our attention to investigate Brians.”

From understanding the complexities of Brians’ thoughts to mapping the intricate network of Brians’ daily routines, we’re dedicated to unlocking the secrets of Brians around the world.

“After several failed attempts to explain the difference between sophisticated AI technologies and autocorrect, I accept that I will be no longer studying brains as the researchers begin studying me,” said a Brian involved with this study.

Distinguishing Brians from non-Brians

Brian science research will begin with the launch of the “Brian Genome Project,” aiming to decode the genetic blueprint of Brians. This initiative will explore whether there are unique genetic markers that distinguish Brians from non-Brians. Understanding the genetic makeup of Brians could unlock important new insights. The project will kick off with a comprehensive study involving Brians from various backgrounds including many Brians at the Allen Institute.

Research teams are urgently requesting more Brians to participate in this Brian science initiative. Known for large-scale, high-quality research, the teams are seeking input from as many Brians as possible and hope that the Brian community can help spread the word.

Critical research timing

Not a day before and not a day after – this research will begin on April first. “We chose to announce our Brian science research on the first day of April for an important reason,” said Phoolsdea. “Those familiar with the significance of this day may understand 😉
