Annual Human and Mammalian Brain Atlas Consortium Meeting 2023

The Annual HMBA Consortium Meeting will be hosted at the Allen Institute April 3–4, 2023. The HMBA consortium is a collaborative effort striving to create the most detailed map of the human brain ever produced, linking cellular and molecular phenotypes to brain imaging and functional architecture. The purpose of this meeting is to come together to engage in informative presentations and meaningful discussions concerning the aims of the grant.

This is a private, invite only meeting. Registration is required.

An invite-only “Product Retreat” pre-meeting will be held in-person on Sunday, April 2 with a smaller number of attendees. If your attendance is requested,  you will receive an additional invitation. Please contact Lauren Kruse with any questions.

Getting to the Meeting

HMBA will be held at the Allen Institute, a 270,000-square-foot life sciences building, located in South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. The building is purpose-built for life science research and facilitates our trademark team science approach amid abundant natural light and with stunning views of Seattle.

Upon arrival at the Allen Institute, check in at the registration desk each day located in the lobby and you will be directed to the meeting. Please wear your name badge for the duration of the meeting.

Please note: all attendees must remain in the designated meeting locations and depart the building at the end of programming each day.


Getting to Seattle

The Seattle-Tacoma International airport is the closest airport to the Institute, about a 30-minute drive from the Allen Institute.

  • From the airport, there are many options for getting to downtown Seattle and the Institute, including Link Light Rail, taxis, Uber/Lyft app-based ride shares, or Shuttle Express.

COVID-19 Protocols

  • Complete a symptom self-screen before arriving: By entering the Allen Institute building each day, you are acknowledging that in the past 10 days you have not: Received a positive test result for COVID-19, had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, cared for or lived with someone diagnosed, exposed to, or suspected of having COVID-19, been notified that you may have been exposed to COVID-19 and you do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and feel well.

  • Masking and social distancing: Masks are optional in all meeting rooms and during meal times.

  • In the event of an infection: If you develop symptoms, do not come to the Allen Institute building. You should remain isolated in your hotel room and contact the event organizers. Please report a positive test result to [email protected] if you develop symptoms within 72 hours following this event and subsequently test positive for COVID-19.
