Bio:
Andrew joined the Allen Institute as a Scientist I in August of 2022 after obtaining his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Andrew’s thesis work used in vitro whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology, dual-color optogenetics, and in vivo 2-photon calcium imaging to understand the input/output properties and cell-type composition of the mouse claustrum. Andrew’s research revealed that the claustrum is a fundamentally integrative structure at both the anatomical and functional levels and is likely an important hub in multimodal processing.
