Bio:
Bethanny is a Scientist on the Connectomics team, primarily working on data dissemination and scientific outreach. Volume electron microscopy data is massive in scale and an incredible resources to individual scientists, teams of researchers, students, and educators. Bethanny’s role is to facilitate analysis of open access electron microscopy (EM) datasets produced at the Allen Institute. In this role she interfaces with the research community, manages the manual proofreading and data curation efforts, coordinates public data releases, tutorials, and workshops, and performs bleeding-edge scientific analysis. Bethanny joined the Allen Institute as a Scientist in 2023.
She previously worked at the Allen Institute for Brain Science as a Research Associate from 2013-2015, before attending the University of California: San Diego for graduate school in Neurosciences. Her doctoral research was on the neural basis of reinforcement learning and decision making. Bethanny received her bachelor of science degree at the University of Washington, in Neurobiology.
