Bio:

Mafalda joined the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics in 2023 as part of the Neurobiology of Action team. Mafalda grew up in Lisbon, where she did an undergrad in Bioengineering. She completed her PhD in the Champalimaud Foundation and a post-doc at Columbia University, both under the supervision of Rui Costa. Her research interests focus on amygdalar-striatal interactions and intra-striatal circuit activity on the dynamics of competing action strategies, particularly goal-directed and habitual actions, and related disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
