Alessandro Venega Coradini, Ph.D.

Scientist II

Bio:

Alessandro Venega Coradini joined the Seattle Hub for Synthetic Biology in February 2024 as a Scientist II. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Campinas-Brazil. During his postdoctoral tenure in Dr. Ehrenreich’s Lab at the University of Southern California, Dr. Coradini focused on the intersection of Genetics and Synthetic Biology, specializing in developing tools to advance the synthesis of large DNA molecules in eukaryotic cells. His significant achievement during this period was the development of a method called CReATiNG for synthesizing chromosome-sized molecules using natural DNA. Dr. Coradini aims to leverage his background in synthetic biology and DNA synthesis to establish workflows for synthesizing large and complex DNA sequences at Seahub. His research interests also include developing methods for transferring and integrating large payloads into mammalian cells.
