Inspiring Next-Generation Scientists
Bio:
Tai (he/him) joined the Allen Institute in May 2024 as a Lab Operations Coordinator on the Molecular Genetics Team. During his undergraduate career, Tai participated in multiple research projects studying Microplastics in the Puget Sound and assessing the water properties of recent trends of the Puget Sound. Tai completed his B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Teaching, Learning, and Justice at the University of Washington. Shortly after, he became a Lab Manager at UW Medicine where he assisted with Neuroscience and Diabetes-focused research.
As a member of Molecular Genetics at the Institute, Tai supports many large-scale projects on the team, including the construction of viral genetic tools for access to the mouse brain and generation of complex transgenic mouse lines. He is integral to the daily operations of a large pipeline with many moving parts, interfacing with many scientists on many diverse teams. He hopes to continue making an impact not only towards his team but for the Institute as a whole.
