Bio:

Troy Mead joined the Allen Institute in August 2024 as an Education and Engagement Coordinator III. As Coordinator, he supports the Education and Engagement team with event and field trip logistics, leads building tours, and runs operations for the staff library.

Troy has a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from The Evergreen State College, where he wrote for the student newspaper. While obtaining his degree, Troy led independent research projects studying scent communication in leafcutter ants and social aggression in domestic chickens. Troy has spent the past decade in various roles at informal science institutions and is excited to bring his passion for accessible science communication to the Allen Institute.
