Bio:

Matt joined Madrona in 2000 and has been a prolific investor in several areas of focus over the years. His nearly 25 years of venture investing has spanned the rise of the internet, the evolution of software to SAAS, the transformation of infrastructure to cloud computing and the use of Al and of machine learning for intelligent appliations.

Most recently, Matt is passionate about founders building companies that leverage applied machine learning and cloud computing to solve problems, either in the intelligent and generative applications for enterprise sector or the “intersections of innovation” sector – where life science and data science interact. Matt and the Madrona team have been leaders in applied machine learning with their implementation of the Intelligent Applications 40 (www.ia40.com) and the associated summit, which recognizes the leading companies and trends in applied Al, foundation models and intelligent/generative apps.

His active Madrona investments include A-Alpha Bio, Amperity, Booster, Ozette, Qumulo, Read.ai and Terraclear.

Matt’s investments that have completed IPOs include Accolade (ACCD), Apptio (APTI), Isilon (ISLN), Nautilus
(NAUT) and Smartsheet (SMAR).

He also invested in several acquired companies including ExtraHop (Bain/Crosspoint), Farecast (Microsoft), iConclude (Opsware), Isilon (EMC), OctoAl (Nvidia), Payscale (Warburg Pincus), Placed (Snap), Suplari (Microsoft), Turi (Apple) and Xnor.ai (Apple).

Non-profit boards include Fred Hutch Cancer Center (current Board of Advisors), Washington Policy Center, and Challenge Seattle.
