Bio:

Joanna works closely with Allen Institute employees and leadership to ensure immigration processes run smoothly, provide guidance and updates on legal changes, and develop our immigration policies and procedures.

Joanna grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and received a JD degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. She also holds an MA in China Area Studies from SOAS, University of London, UK, and a BA in History from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She is licensed to practice law in Washington State and has worked in the field of immigration law for more than 15 years, in nonprofit, private law firm, and government settings.

Outside of working at the Allen Institute, Joanna enjoys spending time with her twins and husband (and cats!), baking, jogging, travelling, and watching and reading mysteries.
