You are responsible for arranging transportation to the University of Washington dorms, if you are staying there on the nights of August 21 and/or 22, or to the bus pickup point on August 23 if not.
If you have requested housing at UW on August 21, August 22, and/or September 6, you will check in at the dorm. Follow the directions in your email for check in procedures. Check-in time is between noon and 10pm on August 21 and check-out is before 11am on August 23.
The workshop provides transportation from Seattle to Friday Harbor. The bus from Seattle will depart from the Allen Institute to the Anacortes ferry terminal on Sunday, August 23. We will provide group walk on ferry tickets.
At the end of the workshop, the bus will return to the UW campus by 3pm. You are responsible for arranging transportation back to the airport.
Airport to the University of Washington dorms: A cab or rideshare from the airport typically costs $60-90 and takes about 30 minutes at off-peak hours. The Link light rail travels directly from the airport to the University District station and takes about an hour. (Note that you are looking for the University District station, not the University of Washington station located at the stadium, or the University Street station located downtown.)
University of Washington dorms to Allen Institute: A cab or rideshare takes about 15 minutes and typically costs ~$25. We will provide an Uber code (to come) for a free ride from UW to the Allen Institute. Alternatively, Metro bus route 70 travels from NE 43rd and 15th, about 3 blocks from the dorms, to about 4 blocks from the Allen Institute. It takes about 35 minutes including walking time and costs $2.75. Follow directions here.
Allen Institute (Bootcamp and bus to Anacortes departure): 615 Westlake Ave N, Seattle, WA, 98109. Note that the loading zone is on the north side of the building on Roy St. If you are attending the bootcamp on Sunday, enter at the front door at the corner of Westlake and Roy/Valley and follow signs to the 2nd floor. If you are only taking the bus and not participating in bootcamp, wait in the lobby to meet the rest of the group before departure.
*Anyone not traveling with the group to FHL will be responsible for all travel costs incurred
