Bio:
Melissa joined the Allen Institute for Immunology as a scientist in 2023. Her current work focuses on understanding how inflammation shapes immune cell functions in autoimmune disorders.
Prior to joining the Institute, Melissa was a Cancer Research Institute postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington with Dr. Joshua Woodward, where she investigated the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory signaling during infection. She obtained her PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy Thorner, where she characterized signaling pathways that regulate cellular homeostasis. She obtained her A.B. in Government and Legal studies and Biology from Bowdoin College.
