Suhas V. Vasaikar, Ph.D.

Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist

Suhas Vasaikar is a computational biologist, specialized in cancer research and integrative multiomics analysis. Currently, he is a Senior Scientist in the Informatics & Computational Biology department at the Allen institute for Immunology. He is focused on integrative biology at single cell level and discovering novel mechanistic insights associated with human disease-immune interactions.

Dr. Vasaikar’s elite standing in the biomedical science field is well supported by his comprehensive academic and research experience. For his educational background, he earned his M.Sc. at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly University of Pune) and his Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. After completing his academic training, he conducted research at notable institutes around the world including the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, Vanderbilt University’s Department of Biomedical Informatics, Baylor College of Medicine’s Lester and Sue Smith Breast Cancer Center and MD Anerson Cancer Research Center. His original research on topics like integrated multiomics analysis, proteogenomics analysis for use in identifying cancer biomarkers, and breast cancer tumor chemoresistance has been published within prestigious journals and conference proceedings, cited extensively by his peers, and funded by renowned federal, state, and non-profit organizations.

Over his research experience, he has published near 30 journal articles in peer review journals including Cell, Nature Communications, JNCI, British Journal of Cancer and BMC Neuroscience, and reviewed more than 40 research articles. He was a part of NCI CPTAC team, worked on majorly Colon cancer, kidney cancer, endometrial cancer and lung cancer which resulted in proteogenomic understanding of cancer and therapeutic opportunities. Apart from publications, he has developed and/or worked on several online tools which include LinkedOmics, NeuroDNet, WebGestalt, and EMTome online tools which are used by clinicians, researchers in US and across globe.
