CytoData Symposium 2022 will be held at the Allen Institute, a 270,000-square-foot life sciences building, located in South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. The building is purpose-built for life science research and facilitates our trademark team science approach amid abundant natural light and with stunning views of Seattle. 2022 COVID-19 Protocols 

COVID-19 protocols are subject to change.

  • We ask that you complete a sympton self-screen before arriving: By entering the Allen Institute building each day, you are acknowledging that in the past 10 days you have note: Received a positive test result for COVID-19, had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, cared for or lived with someone diagnosed, exposed to, or suspected of having COVID-19, been notified that you may have been exposed to COVID-19 and you do not have any COVID-19 symptoms and feel well.

  • Masking and social distancing: All participants will be required to wear masks in all meeting rooms. Masks are optional in the Atrium space and during meal times.

  • In the event of an infection: If you develop symptoms, do not come to the Allen Institute building. You should remain isolated in your hotel room and contact the event organizers. Please report a positive test result to ! if you develop symptoms within 72 hours following this event and subsequently test positive for COVID-19.

Getting to Seattle

The Seattle-Tacoma International airport is the closest airport to the Institute, about a 30-minute drive from South Lake Union. From the airport, there are many options for getting to downtown Seattle and the Institute, including Link Light Rail, taxis, Uber/Lyft app-based ride shares, or Shuttle Express. Additionally, for public transportation you can download the OneBusAway app for helpful, real time updates on arrival times. *When planning your departure from Seattle, we recommend saving your spot for TSA security to skip the long lines.


Attendees are responsible for all travel expenses to and from Seattle. The Allen Institute for Cell Science will provide food and beverages during the events. 

Attractions & Things to Do in Seattle

  • Space Needle / Chihuly Garden and Glass: The Needle recently underwent a $100M renovation and is still a top tourist destination. Dale Chihuly's namesake glass art museum next door provides an indoor-outdoor art experience. Tickets to both can be bundled for a discount.

  • Museum of Pop Culture: Founded by Paul Allen, this museum dedicated to music, science fiction, and pop culture is a must-see. Take a ride on the Seattle Center Monorail to get a closer look at the Frank Gehry-designed building.

  • Pike Place Market: The heart and soul of Seattle, complete with flying fish, fresh produce and beautiful bouquets of flowers, only a 30 minute walk from the Institute in downtown Seattle.

  • Kayak or paddleboard on Lake Union: Soak in skyline views, watch seaplanes take off and land and paddle past Seattle’s famous floating homes. Rentals available at Northwest Outdoor Center on Westlake Ave (20-min walk) or Moss Bay on Fairview Ave (12-min walk).

  • Places to eat near the Institute: South Lake Union features a buzzing restaurant scene with options ranging from fast casual to fine dining. Check out a full SLU dining directory here.
