Youngmee Sul is a Research Associate on the Stem Cells and Gene Editing team. She’s responsible for QC of the gene edited hIPSC lines and banking of the finalized clones for public distribution. Prior to joining the Institute, she manufactured CAR-T therapy for Juno Therapeutics for 1.5 years. She graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience. After college, Youngmee joined Dr. Wendy Raskind’s lab as a Research Associate in the Medical Genetics Department at the University of Washington to identify novel mutations in candidate genes for familial neurological disorders such as Spinocerebellar Ataxia and Charcot Marie Tooth disease for 3.5 years. Afterwards, she worked as Lab Manager for Dr. Jason Smith in the Microbiology Department at the University of Washington for nearly 2 years where she engineered Adenovirus chimeras to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of neutralization of non-enveloped viruses by human alpha defensins.
