Angel Nelson
Principal Research Associate
Angel is a Research Associate in the Stem Cell and Gene Editing group. Her current work focuses on developing tools and methods to study early steps of cardiomyocyte differentiation of the gene-edited human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) produced within the group. She originally joined the Allen Institute for Brain Science as a Research Associate in the in vitro Human Cell Types team, where she studied differentiation of stem cells into neural lineages. Angel’s broad experience with stem cells and embryology spans from working in academic labs making genetically engineered mice, to clinical applications in a fertility clinic, to developing a novel human stem cell line in the naïve state. She has extensive experience working with many different stem cell lines in a variety of contexts. Angel completed her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Washington.
