Tom Goddard, Ph.D.
University of California, San Francisco
Tom Goddard develops the Chimera visualization software at the University of California, San Francisco used by 10,000 research labs worldwide for analyzing 3-dimensional electron and optical microscopy of cells and atomic models of molecular machinery. He develops modeling and 3d graphics algorithms to elucidate the mechanisms of cell function. He has worked on diverse science data analysis problems including protein structure determination by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, a satellite based astronomical survey in the extreme ultraviolet, and video tracking of bees. He is a member of Tom Ferrin's lab at UC San Francisco since 1996 and has bachelor and master of arts degrees in physics and mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.
