We are planning to run the Workshop tutorials using the AWS platform. Each attendee will get a compute instance on AWS to work with for the duration of the Workshop. Please bring your laptop. You will be connecting to AWS instances from your laptops to work on the tutorials. Both wifi and hardwired internet will be available.

 

Travel to the workshop

Plan to arrive at the Allen Institute by 8:30am on Monday, July 25, and depart the Allen Institute at 5pm on Tuesday, July 26.

Travel to and from SeaTac airport:

  • Transit: Follow signs in the airport to the light rail. Ride to University Street station (not University of Washington or University District - the station between Pioneer Square and Westlake) and transfer to the Rapid Ride C line bus. The ride takes about an hour and costs $3.

  • Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare: Follow signs in the airport to the rideshare and taxi zone in the parking garage. The drive to or from the Allen Institute takes about 25 minutes during off-peak times and up to 50 minutes during rush hour. The fare is typically $40-50.

  • Taxi: Follow signs in the airport to the rideshare and taxi zone in the parking garage. The drive to or from the Allen Institute takes about 25 minutes during off-peak times and up to 50 minutes during rush hour. The fare is typically $40-50.

We cannot host you at the Allen Institute after 5pm on Tuesday, but we can provide recommendations of locations around the neighborhood to spend time before an evening flight if you have already checked out.

If you have been provided with travel support, please see the personalized details you have been sent for the level of support provided. You will need to submit your receipts, a W9 (US) or W8 (all other countries) form, and an Allen Institute visitor expense report. For the expense report, please enter the amount as $1000, the reimbursable amount, if your total exceeds this amount. Submit your documents to ap@alleninstitute.org.

We will provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks on both days of the workshop for all participants. We will also host dinner on Monday evening, at a location to be announced soon.
