Research Associate I
Melissa joined the Allen Institute for Brain Science's Molecular Biology team in December of 2021. She graduated from California State University, Chico with a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2020, and after having worked in the medical field for several months as a medical assistant, she returned to the laboratory setting. During her undergraduate degree, she studied various human cell types including pancreatic beta cells. Her most memorable research experience entailed the effects medium-chained triglycerides found in coconut oil had on cellular apoptosis.
