
Medea McGraw
Histology Manager
Medea is a Histology professional with over 25 years of experience in the health care and research industries. She received her Bachelors in Science degree in Zoology at the University of Washington and is currently managing the Histology core team since 2015. Her primary roles and responsibilities include supporting all core labs and the daily operations within the Cell Types Structured Science division. As a manager, Medea’s goals and overall dynamic philosophy are to lead, mentor and enable her team members to become next generation leaders and to increase overall personal job satisfaction and career growth. Medea’s established operational and project management experience has provided a sound foundation and skill set for delivering process improvements, working smarter and efficiently, and collaboratively working as a team inter-departmentally. Her personal commitment and goals support the Institute’s common high level goals by producing consistent, reproducible, high quality data. Medea’s most recent work in 2017, included the optimization and validation of the new Intellipath FLX slide stainer. This automated instrument yields reproducible, enhanced IHC staining, and requires less labor hours per employee to operate. It supports two new NIH Brain grants recently awarded to the Institute in 2017 and supports the current established Human IVSCC and Mesoscale pipelines. Medea has worked at various companies around the Seattle metro area to include, The Boeing Company, Laboratory Corporation of America, Eastside Pathology Inc., Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, PhenoPath Laboratories, and Incyte Diagnostics.
